What’s Up in Lansing: AMP Making An Impact

The past few months have seen quite a few developments in the debate around Michigan’s energy future. Legislators in the Senate and House have heard nearly 50 hours of testimony from 150 witnesses over the course of both chambers’ energy committee hearings.

Here are just a few of the key milestones so far:

Throughout this process, AMP members have been a steady voice of reason, calling on our legislators to put in place a strong, Michigan-first energy policy. To date, AMP members have sent nearly 2,000 messages to Michigan legislators in September alone.  Together, we are having a real impact in the debate.  Thank you for all your hard work!

Where We Stand Now

Originally, we thought the Michigan House and Senate energy committees would hold their respective votes by the end of September so that the full legislature could begin deliberation.  However, some special interests are digging in their heels, introducing delays as they try to preserve special carve-outs or exemptions, which is why it’s vital for us to stay vigilant over the coming weeks and months.
