The federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
(LIHEAP)—and the state and local efforts it supports—provides an invaluable
lifeline for low-income Michigan households. Unfortunately, funding has never fully
met the need here in Michigan or nationwide.
The economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic means even more
individuals and families will struggle to pay for basic necessities in the
months and years ahead. That’s why AMP is calling on Congress to increase
LIHEAP funding—by $10 billion—as part of our nation’s response to the current
crisis.
In the context of the pandemic, energy assistance is more
critical than ever.
Help speak out in
support of increased LIHEAP funding to help vulnerable Michigan families and
communities.
