Let the visions of sugar plums dance in your head! These festive energy efficiency tips can help keep your holidays merry, bright, and energy-efficient!

  1. Set your lights on a timer

Setting your decorations on a timer will help keep costs manageable and better prevent power outages and electric shortages whether you opt for a few simple strands of lights or you went all out decking the halls!

  1. Opt for an LED display

LED lights use much less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs. The lights may be a bit more expensive up front, but the efficiency of LED lights will help ease the sticker shock of your holiday electric bill!

  1. Keep your oven door shut

It may be hard to resist temptation, but keep peeking to a minimum when you’re doing your holiday baking and be sure to shut the oven door as soon as your take out your treats to cool. Be sure to bake multiple dishes at once for increased efficiency.

  1. Dial down the thermostat while entertaining

It might get a little toasty inside between hosting guests, cooking and baking, and chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Turn down the thermostat while entertaining to keep everyone a comfortable temperature and save energy.

  1. Keep the doors and windows closed tight

Shut doors to rooms that you don’t necessarily use, and make sure that windows are tightly latched to keep the colder air out and warmer air inside.

Enjoy the holiday season and stay warm and safe through the cold Michigan winter months. Have a happy holiday and a bright 2019 from the AMP family to you!
